Chief Instructor Shihan Ed Kuras

Shihan Ed Kuras is a highly respected martial artist with over 55 years of experience in Shotokan Karate and other disciplines. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, he made Macomb, Illinois his home after attending Western Illinois University. He has dedicated his life to teaching, mentoring, and advancing the art of Karatejitsu. Shihan Kuras trained under renowned instructors such as Sensei Sugiyama, Sensei Nishiyama, and Hanshi George Anderson.

A dedicated family man, he is married with four daughters and several grandchildren. As Chair of the USANKF, he has played a pivotal role in organizing national competitions and testing practitioners up to the highest Dan rankings. His contributions to the martial arts community are immeasurable, and he continues to teach and inspire students every day.

Senior Instructor Shihan Marty Husband

Shihan Marty Husband is a skilled martial artist with over 50 years of experience in various disciplines, with a strong foundation in Shotokan Karate. Born and raised in Macomb, Illinois, he began training in 1973 and discovered Shotokan Karate in 1982 during his military service. After returning to Macomb, he started training and teaching under Shihan Ed Kuras in 1986 while continuing to study other martial arts styles.

Shihan Husband is also an accomplished author, having written three books: Surviving the Unpredictable, Survive the Fight, and The Warrior's Trinity. Married with three daughters and a grandson, he continues to teach and train while planning to author more books in the future.
